A Foundation Built on Rigorous Training
Dr. Bernard Ashby, MD, MPH, FACC earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine and a Master's in Health Policy from Princeton University. His postgraduate training took him through Columbia University, George Washington University — where he served as chief fellow — and a vascular medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
Quadruple Board-Certified
Dr. Ashby holds board certifications in internal medicine, cardiology, vascular medicine, and nuclear cardiology, along with credentialing as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) — a breadth of training that few pre-operative evaluations draw on.
From the Cath Lab to the Classroom
Before founding Comprehensive Vascular Care (CVC Medicine), Dr. Ashby served as Director of Vascular Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He is currently an Associate Professor at Florida International University and Medical Director at Larkin University School of Health Sciences. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including a study in the Journal of Vascular Surgery on how congestive heart failure affects perioperative outcomes in lower-extremity revascularization, and a case report in the Journal of Invasive Cardiology.
A Voice for Public Health
Dr. Ashby is a frequent national media commentator on public health and healthcare policy, and has spoken publicly — including on the Black Doctors Podcast — about his path to cardiology and his commitment to expanding healthcare access in the South Florida community where he grew up. He remains active mentoring local youth.
